How do I cancel my H&R Block subscription? ›

Cancel online: Most subscription cancellations can be done online through your H&R Block account. Log into your account, navigate to the subscription or billing section, and follow the cancellation instructions provided. Make sure to receive confirmation of the cancellation.

If the H&R Block tax preparation software makes an error on your return, we will reimburse you for any resulting penalties and interest up to a maximum of $10,000.

Although it's not the most expensive of the tax software providers we reviewed, H&R Block's online tax software isn't the cheapest either. Still, its free version is one of the best on the market: The interface is straightforward and easy to use, and help from a human is available for an extra cost.

Click on 'My Account' in the top right corner. Enter your email and password and click 'Log in'. In the 'Settings' tab, choose 'Cancel Subscription' or 'Pause Subscription'.

To downgrade your account or change to H&R Block Free Online, just call us at 1-800-472-5625 and tell us what you need.

The consumer protection agency's complaint alleges that H&R Block makes it unnecessarily time consuming and frustrating for consumers to downgrade to a lower cost tax-preparation option online after initially selecting a higher cost one.

The maximum penalty is up to 25% of the tax due. The 0.5% rate increases to 1% if the tax remains unpaid 10 days after the IRS issues a notice of intent to levy. If you can prove reasonable cause for the failure to pay, the IRS won't impose the penalty.

You will pay more for TurboTax than for H&R Block in most cases, ranging from $69 to $129 for do-it-yourself filers, plus any state costs.

Can I delete my tax return and start again with H&R Block? ›

You cannot delete an account you have set up in H&R Block's tax software. However, you can delete all the information you have entered. If you want your H&R Block account to be deleted, contact our Support Team at 1-800-HR-BLOCK / 1-800-472-5625.

If you want to cancel your subscription, you must email billing@taxfiler.co.uk from the Primary user's email address to request this. We require this notice 30 days' in advance if you are paying monthly, or 60 days' in advance if you are paying annually.

You may also contact customer service at 1-866-353-1266 to close your Emerald Card account. You can receive a check or ACH of your remaining funds for no fee.
